Can we use Metronidazole & Diloxanide Furoate tablets for diarrhea or not?

There are many causes of diarrhoea. Its wise to have stool test before starting the diarrhoea. What is the age of patient? How long since having it? How many times a day? How is the stool; just watery or mucus or blood mixed? Need to know all these before it.
